Pumpkin Hunter & Ghost Hunter
Find hidden pumpkins and ghosts all through October and compete for the season win.
Pumpkin Hunter and Ghost Hunter are October-long hunts. HalloweenBot hides a reaction on a recent message somewhere in your server, and the first person to find it scores.
They work the same way and run separately, so your server can use one or both.

How to play
- Look through recent messages for a 🎃 or 👻 reaction from HalloweenBot.
- Click the same reaction. The first person to react gets the catch.
- The reaction disappears, and HalloweenBot replies to announce who found it.
Unclaimed pumpkins and ghosts disappear after a while, and a new one appears later.
The season
- October 1st: hunts switch on automatically in servers that have them enabled.
- All of October: the player with the most catches leads the season. The count is catches, not the size of each reward.
- November 1st: the winner is announced and everyone's count resets for next year.
Dates follow the timezone set for your server. Hunts can't run outside October, even when they're enabled.
Set up a hunt
You need Manage Server to change these settings.
- Open the HalloweenBot dashboard and select your server.
- Open Features, then Pumpkin Hunter or Ghost Hunter.
- Enable the feature.
- Choose where it can appear, using Allow and Deny on your text channels. If you don't allow any channels, every text channel is eligible apart from the ones you deny.
- Pick an Announcement channel for the season winner. If you leave this on Automatic, HalloweenBot uses your Halloween event channel, or your server's system channel if it can't use that.
- Save your changes.
Your settings are kept outside October, so you can set a hunt up ahead of time.
Permissions
In the channels you want to use, HalloweenBot needs View Channel, Read Message History and Add Reactions. It also needs Send Messages to announce catches, and to post the winner in your announcement channel.
Hunts only hide on recent messages from real members. Messages from bots and messages more than 6 hours old aren't used, so a hunt can't start in a server that has been quiet for hours.

Servers with HalloweenBot Premium can also change:

You can use {user}, {username}, {reward} and {server} in a custom claim message.
Common questions
Is this the same as /ghostbuster? No. Ghostbuster is a quick hunt that anyone can start at any time of year. Ghost Hunter runs on its own through October and counts towards the season win.
Why isn't anything appearing? Check that it's October in your server's timezone, that the feature is enabled, and that HalloweenBot can access your allowed channels. Members also need to have posted in the last 6 hours.
Where can I see the standings? Run /leaderboard with type: Pumpkin Hunter or type: Ghost Hunter. Hunts are per server, so you'll see your server's standings whichever scope you pick.
