Setting up the Halloween event
Choose a channel, reward role and dates for Monster Drops, and reset the leaderboard.
This guide is for server managers. For how the event plays, see Spooky Events & Monster Drops.
Turn the event on
- Run
/seteventconfigand select the dashboard button. You need Manage Server. - Turn on Enable Halloween Event.
- Choose an Event Channel. The event can't run without one.
- Save your changes.
Permissions the event needs
In the event channel, HalloweenBot needs:
- View Channel
- Send Messages
- Embed Links
- Add Reactions
- Read Message History
If HalloweenBot is missing any of these when a drop is due, it turns the event off for your server. It sends the server owner a direct message and adds a dashboard notification naming the missing permissions. Fix them, then turn the event back on in the dashboard.
Reward role
Leaderboard Reward Role is optional. When you pick a role, HalloweenBot gives it to your top collector and moves it whenever the lead changes.
For this to work:
- HalloweenBot needs the Manage Roles permission.
- HalloweenBot's role must be above the reward role in Server Settings > Roles.
Pick a role made just for this. HalloweenBot removes it from anyone else who has it, unless your server has more than 25,000 members.
Start and end dates
Both dates are optional, and they use your device's time zone.
| Setting | If you leave it empty |
|---|---|
| Start Date | The event starts as soon as it's enabled |
| End Date | The event runs until you turn it off |
When the end date passes, HalloweenBot:
- Stops Monster Drops.
- Posts the top 3 in the event channel.
- Gives the reward role to the winner, who keeps it.
Points stay in place until you reset them.
Reset the leaderboard
Reset Event Leaderboard sets everyone's Candy Points in your server to 0, ready for your next event. This can't be undone.
- This includes points earned from games such as
/trickortreat, not only points from Monster Drops. - Collected items stay in players' inventories.
- The current reward role holder keeps the role until someone new takes the lead.
Activity detection
The Activity Gate is on by default, so drops don't land in an empty server.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Activity Window | 20 minutes | How recent a message has to be for the server to count as active |
| Quiet Recheck Delay | 10 minutes | How long to wait before checking again when the server is quiet |
If you want drops to run on schedule even when nobody is talking, turn the gate off.
Premium options
Servers with HalloweenBot Premium can also change:
| Option | Standard value |
|---|---|
| Minimum and maximum points | 5 and 15 |
| Rare multiplier | 2x |
| Maximum winners per drop | 10 |
| Weekend bonus | Off, 2x once it's turned on |
| Boss Raid points | 100 |
| Boss Raid winners | 2 |
| Zombie Swarm monsters | 2 to 3 |
If the event isn't working
Open the event's dashboard page and check Setup Health and Event Runtime, which show the current state and the next event. Then check that:
- The event is still enabled, as missing permissions turn it off. Check the server owner's direct messages and your dashboard notifications.
- Your end date hasn't passed, and your start date has.
- The server has been active recently, or the Activity Gate is off.
If it still isn't working, run /reporteventissue.
